IHS CERA Chairman and Author of The Quest, Daniel Yergin Honored for Outstanding Contributions to the Energy Economics and Literature by the International Association of Energy Economics

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (June TK, 2012) – IHS CERA Chairman and author of The Quest: Energy, Security and the Remaking of the Modern World, Dr. Daniel Yergin is the 2012 winner of the Outstanding Contributions to the Profession Award presented by the International Association of Energy Economics (IEAA). The annual award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of energy economics and its literature.
The selection of Dr. Yergin for the 2012 award follows the publication of his latest book, The Quest which has been called “necessary reading for CEOs, conservationists, lawmakers, generals, spies, tech geeks, thriller writers and many others” (New York Times) and “a masterly piece of work” (the Economist). The book is published in seven languages.
“I am extremely honored to receive this prestigious award from such a distinguished organization,” Yergin said. “As The Quest makes clear, the elements shaping the future of energy are many, their interactions are complex and sometimes confusing, and the consequences great.  The International Association for Energy Economics’ mission in fostering research, interaction and dialogue across regions and disciplines on important energy issues is vital, and the role of its members critical.”
Dr. Yergin will receive his award in a ceremony at the IEAA North American Conference in Austin, Texas in October.
